Thought of a new approach to <u>SHAPE AND SHATTER</u> as a<br>
puzzle. Put the pieces into a 9x9 square with no color<br>
touching itself, even at the corner. It is quite easy. Then<br>
thought of the idea throwing the dice and prohibiting the<br>
two colors from touching.<br>
<s>For ''<u>S & T</u>'' column wrote up</s> Cut up a package of 6"x4'<br>
index cards to get more 3"x2" for indexing the archives.<br>

<u>GAME</u> on 10/14, but no answer. Called <u>Earl</u> and told him<br>
<u>Issy</u> also can't make it so when Earl tells Peter, the<br>
whole thing may be postponed.<br>
Call from <u>Claude</u>. He has the solution ready for <u>ECLIPSE</u>.<br>
But he remembered that he has another version with<br>
extra overlays so that different puzzles could be <br>
set up. I told him that something like that would be more<br>
appealing. He'll have in ready by next Tuesday when I<br>
bring <u>SHAPE AND SHATTER</u> to Felicia.<br>
Drew up a new board for <u>OVER 'N OVER</u> as<br>
a puzzle. Noted a solution for a <br>
checkered pattern with the vacant space<br>
in the center.<br>

Later thinking about <u>3D BOXES></u> with different colors. With four<br>
colors up top 4 can play. When a box is completed, most of a<br>
color wins it, unless it is a tie in which case the one completing<br>
it wins. Instead of giving an extra turn for completing a face,<br>
give one for adding the third color at a corner, or a fourth. Keep<br>
the setting up, but eliminate the force. (I'll have to try it out.)<br>
