On ''S & T'' column wrote up FINESSE, WINIT, MASTER MIND,
| |||
MONEY CARD, OPTILE, OUTLAW TRAIL, THE GARBAGE GAME,
| |||
PINK PEBBLES, QUADTRIPLE, CLUSTER, IMPASSE, TAU, THE DOT GAME,
| |||
and started RACECOURSE.
| |||
Thought of a new approach to SHAPE AND SHATTER as a
| |||
puzzle. Put the pieces into a 9x9 square with no color
| |||
touching itself, even at the corner. It is quite easy. Then
| |||
thought of the idea throwing the dice and prohibiting the
| |||
two colors from touching.
| |||
<s>For ''S & T'' column wrote up</s> Cut up a package of 6"x4'
| |||
index cards to get more 3"x2" for indexing the archives.
| |||

GAME on 10/14, but no answer. Called Earl and told him
| |||
Issy also can't make it so when Earl tells Peter, the
| |||
whole thing may be postponed.
| |||
Call from Claude. He has the solution ready for ECLIPSE.
| |||
But he remembered that he has another version with
| |||
extra overlays so that different puzzles could be
| |||
set up. I told him that something like that would be more
| |||
appealing. He'll have in ready by next Tuesday when I
| |||
bring SHAPE AND SHATTER to Felicia.
| |||
Drew up a new board for OVER 'N OVER as
| |||
a puzzle. Noted a solution for a
| |||
checkered pattern with the vacant space
| |||
in the center.
| |||
[Diagram of a 5x5 board populated with circles. Each circle contains a number from 1-25 - starting with 1 at the top left and ending with 25 at the bottom right. Each circle is connected to all adjacent circles (including diagonally) with a line. On the left side every row is labelled 1,6,11,16,21, and on the right side every row is labelled 5,10,15,20,25.] | |||

with orders. In the meantime he'll tell their showroom (J.R
| |||
Sales - 3rd floor - 200 Fifth) to show me the copy they have there.
| |||
I'll probably go there next Tuesday.
| |||
Later thinking about 3D BOXES> with different colors. With four
| |||
colors up top 4 can play. When a box is completed, most of a
| |||
color wins it, unless it is a tie in which case the one completing
| |||
it wins. Instead of giving an extra turn for completing a face,
| |||
give one for adding the third color at a corner, or a fourth. Keep
| |||
the setting up, but eliminate the force. (I'll have to try it out.)
| |||
