Rcd. a letter from Philip Cohen. Mentioned his
"Olla Podrida" column (in NOST-ALGIA) and LOA and CROSSINGS,
and AGOG. Talked about GO variants and CHESS variants,
including NIXON ECONOMICS CHESS and CROSSINGS CHESS.

Call from Felicia, she lost her catalog sheets listing the new
3M games for '73. Told her MR. WHO and STAC-TAC-TOE, as
well as GO and BACKGAMMON.
She checked with her neighbor thru whom she uses U.P.S. If
the models of THE 31ST HEX and PUSHOVER are lost they
are covered by insurance. (How much?)
She has a new client with the children's things. Before coming
to her Felicia she sold two items to Ideal - and was paid a flat
fee of $200 each. Felicia asked what Ideal had given me
for CASE OF THE ELUSIVE ASSASSIN - 2% because 3% went to
Ellory Queen. She thought that was reasonable.

Call from Claude. He didn't want a meeting tomorrow since
he was leaving on a trip early Friday. Set a date for 10/19
with Earl and Batty and Issie. Invited BB and me, but
felt that Bob Abbott and Wald would be more than his house
could handle. Told him I'd try my best to make it.

Called Wald to wish him a happy happier New Year. He thought that I
might be interested in the course on 'Board Games of the
World" being thought [taught?] at The New School. Told him about the
POST article. Wald went down to meet the teacher - Laurence
Russ, a high school (I believe) teacher. When the class
(about 15) met the first time they voted to spend the time
learning games - GO, MANCALA, and the Oriental CHESS
variations. Wald was thinking of joining the class. I said that
he probably knew a lot more than the teacher. He agreed.

Corner Distributors advertised 10 decks of cards for
$1.69. Had Phil pick them up for me. Not very good but they
can be used for making boards, etc.

Played STAC-TAC-TOE with Marylin's Eliot. He beat me 3 to 1.
He reminded me that I had promised him a copy of HOLIDAY.
Told him I'd have it for him next time I saw him.
