265TH DAY - 100 DAYS TO COME

While trying to get a screw out of the shelf bracket
in the game room the lower shelf collapsed. The
screws were barely in the wood.
At a Sears bought 18 brackets. Then bought a lot of
screws at Allenton Ave. Then 4 more brackets at
Pioneer. Put the new screws in the collapsed shelf and returned the
books, after cleaning the shelf and the books.

Called Phil Orbanes in the morning and he called me back in the evening.
He saw Jay Peterson during the week and showed him the p & p
games. Jay is considering all of them. The one he was really
enthusiastic about was HEXOWORD. The one he really didn't like
was SPACE STATIONS.

Played OVER 'N OVER with Al Richter u. He won the first game. Then
I won three.
Gave Al his puzzle SIX BEADS and his QUADRUME and
TRY-ANGLES.

In my talk with Phil Orbanes he said that in his a talk with
Carl Eisenberg they estimated that the total earnings for 1973 for the 5
p & p games (CHINESECHEK, WORDPLAY, etc.) would be about $13,000,
between the two of us.
The premium operation seems to show great promise. It may soon
grow bigger than he can handle himself.
Phil would like to get Djoli out of the "Gamut of Games" management.
His ego just stops them from getting into the black. Van Zedwitz
(spelling?) would like to get his money back. If Djoli is out then
"Gamut" will continue manufacturing their present games but
won't add any. Instead it will develop new products with
Hoi Polloi getting first refusal rights. Carl, Phil thinks, will
have an interest in getting "Gamut" going - since he might move
into it himself.

4 colors. These are dealt out (don't have quantities)
and then played in tricks. A lead mustbe followed in
color if possible. If not, rank can be followed. Winner of
trick leads to next. In case of following in rank, colors have
an order. When a lead can't be answered, the player
leading can turn over a card (solved the problem). Object to
turn over six. There is some provision for trading cards
when a player gets more than one the same. A player also
wins the "hand" if he gets $4,000,000 or more in his
tricks. In this connection, a $100,000 card becomes $1,000,000
if played in same trick with $900,000 of the same color. Felicia
has interested International Paper Co. in using the game for
promotional purposes. They are ready to come out with another
