9 Sunday - September 1973
Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost - 252nd day - 113 days to come

Played THE 31ST HEX with BB, first with each player having two goals and then with each player having three goals. They both played well.
Then tried a three-hand game by myself. It probably won't be too bad if there is a point score. First to finish gets 2 points. 2nd gets 1 point.

Thinking that there might well be a market for a card war GAME similar to CONVOY BATTLE ACTION. I'll work on it. One possibility, the "Empire" version of THESE UNITED STATES.

They will go slow on other plastic items, realizing that Mag-Nif does a very good job in manufacture and in packaging. They will look at items now but it probably be at least a year until anything further is done. Phil will show my GROOVE, SKYSCRAPERS, and EVEN WORSE.
I asked about the p&p games. Time is getting a little short on these and in order to expedite things Carl will set up an appointment - after he gets back from a California trip - for Phil to show the games (plastic too?) to Carl, Manny, and Bob at the same time. (This will help keep Carl from being arbitrary.)
Phil feels sure that he has enough on hand to supply the 6 p&p they want for the beginning of '74, and the 6 for backup.
I asked, and royalties will continue with the new p&p's.

Thinking of a game using 18 "dominos" - using 3 symbols "[diamond] [circle] [square]" in all possible combinations. There are 6 combinations, so each occurs 3 times. GAME.
As a game, players in turn draw one a place it in the layout trying to continue runs of the same symbol.
As a solitaire, pcs. [pieces] are drawn one at a time and placed next to others already down so that a 6x6 array is formed with each symbol connected to itself.
Made a quick set for a word game - tentative name SLIDEWORD. Made a set with 22 letters and two wild tiles. Set them up in a 5x5 array with one blank space. Tried it with BB and it was very confining. Later tried it by myself with another letter tile removed, leaving two empty spaces to work with. (Needs more work.)

Called Claude. Told him about the resemblance in equipment between my PUSHOVER and his DIABOLIQUE, and that I was sorry that I hadn't thought about it when he first told me about DIABOLIQUE. He wasn't concerned. Actually he has a lot of work still to do on it. I told him that the play was entirely different and I certainly didn't mind if he submitted it.
Made date for Thursday.
