5 SATURDAY - MAY 1973
125TH DAY - 240 DAYS TO COME

Rcd. [received] from Charles Howard Hartman (see 1/15) a game called ALIVE IN WONDERLAND on the envelope and just plain WORDGAME on the rules.

Started column for S&T #38. Wrote up 3UP and TRAP and half of TRIPLE YAHTZEE.

Called Arthur. Nothing specifically on games.

At the Sternbergs played 8-hand WHAT'S IT WORTH TO YOU? It was over very quickly and we played a second time. It probably would be best to play a series of three games. For the 2nd & 3rd plays no new money is distributed. Instead players keep the money they have from before.
To lengthen the game it might be desirable to require more people to agree to finish the game. Certainly the requirement would be "more than half" calling for 3 when 4 play, 5 when 8 play, and 6 when 10 play, and 7 when 12 play.
Mike Baschkopt asked about VECTOR. He saw it in a "Book-of-the- Month-Club" mailing he rcd. about a month ago.

(cont. from 5/6) [5/21]

games:- IMPASSE, TAU, and CLUSTER. Also, among others, GOMOKU (JAPANESE FIVE), SIEGE, NEW TIC TAC TOE (mentions that there is a new way to play - probably with moving since each player has four pcs. [pieces]

On subway here with Philip Shoptaugh and Claude, who I met during day and, after while seeing booths together, invited to join us. Phil brought copies of TAU, IMPASSE, and CLUSTER with him. [illegible strikeout] I gave the copies of TAU and IMPASSE he previously sent me to Claude. Claude and I played the three games while Phil watched and gave us hints. I won at IMPASSE and Claude the other 2.
Claude gave Phil a copy of GENIUS BLOCKS and played a game of WATCH with him.
I autographed Phil's copy of AGOG.

Rcd. a card from Tom Atwater/ The GAME (see 4/30 5/1) should be like a re-named/themed BAZAAR or TRANSFORMATION. He'll be a Stationary Show.

Rcd. a call from Dixon Durham from the University of S. [south] Carolina. He saw me mentioned in the article on games in the June 5th WORLD magazine. (He subscribes and gets it early.) He has invented some educational GAMES and wanted some advice on marketing them. Mentioned MB [Milton Bradley], and that he'd need an agent. Told him about Felicia. He'll probably get back to me.
