29 SUNDAY - APRIL 1973
FIRST SUNDAY OF EASTER - 119TH DAY - 246 DAYS TO COME

Noticed that Martin Gardner's SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN column of 3/73 mentions that the book GEOMETRIC DISSECTIONS has been reissued by Dover as RECREATIONAL PROBLEMS IN GEOMETRIC DISSECTIONS AND HOW TO SOLVE THEM.

BB, at a bazaar, bought me a dozen red and a dozen blue pencils - 50¢ each.

Thinking of the mold for "Tower Segments" for 3D BOXES and drew up a sketch.

Played two games each of TRAP and WATERWORKS with BB.

Call from Bob Champer. Set up tentative date for him to come here w next Wednesday to go over my PATTON rules and for me to see his historical comments. He'll call Tuesday to finalize the date.

2nd call from Tom Atwater. He can come tomorrow early in the afternoon, but I have the date with Bob Johnson & Felicia.

During day thought of a way to simplify the play in HIT THE JACKPOT. Use 80 chips of 1 color and 40 of another. When setting up the jackpots at the beginning actually fill them in with from 1 to 6 chips. Divide 36 of the chips between the players. (I decided to limit game to 4 players.) This leaves 2 chips of the 80 which are spares. When a jackpot is hit the player takes the chips. It is then started again with a chip of the other color, which is worth 5. (Incidentally 12 of these chips are divided between the players.) After this bonus chip, the others placed are the 1 point chips. When a jackpot with a bonus chip is placed hit a new one is started with 2 bonus chips in the first space. When a jackpot is hit and no bonus chips remain to be placed, the game is over.

Had BB type in the letter distribution on the rules for TAKE-A-WORD. Also added a sketch of the board. To Boston Post Road for repros [reproductions] of the rules. Also got repros of the ROBIN HOOD rules.

Looked at my original solution for THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS and at the info I copied 5/21. I am pretty sure the number should run as I originally had them. Made a layout to check it with the model tomorrow.

Call from Claude. Nothing about specific games.
