 2 THURSDAY - NOVEMBER 1972
ALL SOULS' DAY - 307TH DAY - 59 DAYS TO COME

Rcd. [received] card from Martin Gardner with answer to Don
 Turnbull's question.
Card from Mike Abrams about BLOCK 'N SCORE. It may be
 published in The Netherlands.
Herb Hochstetter called. He'll try to set up a date with
Post cereals and I'll join him. I'll call him tomorrow if
any day is not good for me.
Call from Phil Orbanes. He has finalized the shape of the
REALM pcs. [pieces] Sorcerer - Tall round. Thrall - Medium and
triangular (which can be used to specify movement in
3 directions. Tower - Short and square. (Actually
Phil called before Herb.) [drawing of a triangle inside a square with arrows point up, left, and right]
Felicia called. She is busy on 11/13 and the date to look at
FIRE ISLAND LINGO us changed to 11/14 at 11:30.
 We discussed the 3M royalty.
Wrote most of the rules for THE GO-ROUND GAME. BB
typed THE ADD-A-LETTER GAME and SUPER-TAC-TOE.
To Arthur's for supper with Wald and Claude too.
Played a word GAME of the Amberstones. The deck with
the alphabet and the 10 digits is layed [laid] out. One player
at a time takes the duplicate (green) deck and picks
out a five letter word - with no duplicate letters since there
is only one of each in the green deck. Expressions with
numbers can also be used - but the first number must
be turned up (in addition to the usual turned up card?).
If any player doesn't know the word, or expression, the
player receives no score. [illegible word crossed out]
After the word is layed [laid] out face down the first of the other
players turns over any one of the cards he wishes. Then he
guesses a letter. If right, it is turned up and the player guesses
another letter. When a player gets guesses wrong that letter
is turned down in the original layout and the next player
guesses. One of the guessers may turn up another card,
but this gives the word former 5 points. When the word
is completely uncovered, the former of the word scores
1 point for each consonant turned face down, 2 points
for each vowel (Y is considered a consonant for
scoring), and 5 points if another card was turned. Play
in rounds. After 5-card round, play a 6-card round,
etc. If a phrase is used, gabs [gaps?] must be left.
Played SUPER-TAC-TOE with Wald. At first he insisted that
the first player couldn't be stopped. Later I held him to a
tie on his first, and finally beat him on his first.
Played Claude's WHITE ELEPHANTS. He had a different arrange-
ment of the cards since he didn't have his original listing
with him when he made a new set. It didn't seem to play
quite as well, but I may just have been tired.
