MONDAY 4 OCTOBER 1971
St. Francis of Assisi
First Day of Tabernacles - Soccoth
277th day - 88 days to come
Rcd. 1 SLEUTH problem answer.
In Innsbruch looked in a toy store and a bookstore. In latter
saw a German game, GOLDGRABER, for 128 schillings (over $5)
which I didn't buy, and didn't get any info on.
In Landeck looked at another two stores. Nothing.
(cont. from 10/6) [10/13]
column to him.
Told him about Jim Williams' comment on the IMAGE
packaging. He said that BID & BLUFF was bright red and
together they would stand out.
I asked why Felicia was sent info on BID & BLUFF and he
said that was an error. It was invented by Fred Hershler [Actually 'Herschler'],
who also did THINKING MAN'S GOLF, FOIL, and another
bookshelf which Jim couldn't remember.
I asked and Jim will send me copies of IMAGE and
BID & BLUFF, and would like my comments.
If this packaging does well in the test marketing they
may consider doing BAZAAR in that packaging.
No one is in charge of Action Games at the present times.
Jim is interested in them but is too busy finishing up
PROFIT, redoing TEACH KEY, and working on the "Family" line.
He suggested that Felicia write to Bill Caruson, mentioning
that he, Jim, had voiced interest.
REVOLUTION & COUNTERREVOLUTION is in Keith's area.
Called Felicia to tell her of my talk with Jim, and that
I forgot to ask him to send IMAGE to the inventor.
Since 3M is interested in puzzles, I suggested that she
submit Al Richter's HARLEQUIN and SIX BEADS.
Call from Claude. He rcd. two sets of GENIUS BLOCKS
from Frank Armbruster and an ambiguous letter which seemed
to indicate that if he wanted more he could buy them.
No word as to whether they are being marketed.
Claude picked up several sets of DR. NIM and will let
me have one if I want it.
[Diagram of three squiggly lines (one red, one blue, one black) which intersect at a great many points.]
Thought of a GAME idea. Board is
made up as shown, but bigger. Pcs. move along
a curve of one color and capture, or score, etc., when
meet another pc. at an intersection. (Very rough idea.)
