Earl Perel called
Earl Perel called while I was out and I called back. I'll probably
go to his place <s>next</s> tomorrow.

Played ECOLOGY with BB. It had a pretty good balance but it didn't
come to an end. Finally we quit.

At Copy Shop copied all but a few preliminary pages of
''DYNAMIC MANAGEMENT DECISION GAMES''.

When Mike asked me to come to his office tomorrow I called
Jim Dunnigan and asked if my ''S & T'' column could wait until
the beginning of next week. No problem.

(cont. from 8/24) [8/24]

Pcs., other than the "wild" ones, can only land on a space of
one of their colors. Pcs. with a cross can move in 8 directions
(3 & 4 in illustration) or orthoginally (1 in illustration) .
(I found this very difficult to follow and suggested having lines
on each pc. indicating the direction in which it can move, solid if
it can land on all spaces and dotted if on every other.)
Capture is by replacement. The solid line at each end separates
the "camp" - where the pcs. are set up as each
player wishes at the start (tho he may come up with a definite
setup) - from the "field". Captures across this line
can only be made if the capturing player has at least two
pcs. bearing on the captured piece - tho only one is moved. The
moving platform, however, is open to a single capture from
either side of the line, that is a pc. on it is.
A pc. entering the moving platform must stop on the outside
at the end of the move, and then move into the goal on
another move. Except that the goal can be reached directly
thru the diagonal opening.
Instead of moving a pc., the platform can be moved laterally
one space, provided the spaces it moves into are empty. (Earl
originally stipulated that the platform had to be empty in order
to move. I suggested allowing movement with pcs. on it.
Win by moving two pcs. onto the goal spaces. Once a pc. is
on, it cannot be captured, but it may move to the other
space or may move out all together.
As in CHESS pcs. may not pass over any other pc.
