SATURDAY 12 JUNE 1971
163rd day - 202 days to come
Rcd. a letter from Mary Lou Thomas, Copyright Administrator
for Pantheon Books. My request is being processed
and I will hear from them in due course.
A little work on OPEN BRIDGE. Rest of day on writing
definitions for X-CHANGE WORD.
In evening to the Frederick apt. Played a little of OPEN BRIDGE
without bidding. Jerry particularly liked it.
Played X-CHANGE WORD - Jerry, Miriam, and BB (who had
played the puzzle before, but tried to play as if she hadn't).
Miriam liked it a lot.
Played 4-hand SPACE - STIX, Miriam and me against BB and Jerry.
Jerry had his stix arranged with all the odds on one end
and the evens on the other. This was an advantage, but they still
lost. (Jerry liked it a lot.)
To avoid this situation thought of the idea of dividing
the stix into odd and even piles and having players start
with an alternating odd-even or, for variety, an odd-odd-even-even.
(cont. from 6/29) [6/29]
She wondered if I could get him to move and I said I'd
try.
Rcd. a call from Earl Jay Perel (see 6/22). His friend is in
turn friendly with someone in F.A.O Schwartz, who thinks
he can act as an agent for Earl's games - for 10%. His
friend is also interested in my book (AGOG and is buying
a copy. Earl thinks he may call me. His name is Joseph Beinhorn
TRAFFIC SHADES was returned by 3M.
