Rcd. a letter from <u>Marvin Katz</u>. He enclosed a letter from
a woman who saw the <u>''GRIT''</u> article and asked if
I could give her the rules for <u>MILL</u> (enclosing a
stamp). Marv's letter said that he had received an
inquiry as to addresses of game companies which, I
presume, he answered. He said that this was
twice as much response as he usually gets.
Rcd. a letter from <u>Lech Pijanowski</u>. He also sent me rules
for two of his own original, but derivitive, games:
<u>DOMINO BOARD GAME</u>, <u>SPIDER'S WEB</u>, or <u>THE NET</u>. He demanded
that I send him the book <u>''SERIOUS GAMES''</u> and the
games <u>PROPAGANDA</u> and <u>HAAR HOOLIM PERCEPTION GAMES</u>.
The tone of the letter was insulting.
Rcd. the Jan. '71 <u>''PANZERFAUST''</u>. Jared Johnson had
a thumbnail review of <u>TWIXT</u>. (The issue is numbered
40, a new system.) | |||
Rcd. a long-distance call from <u>Mary Hilt</u> at Stancraft.
She is working on the production of <u>TRANSFORMATION</u>
and wanted to know if I'd mind it being done in plas-
tic. I said that wood would probably be more attrac-
tive, but that was her field and I trusted that hse
would do the best possible job. We also discussed the
pieces and she is having a little problem there. She
doesn't expect to have it ready for Toy Fair, except
possibly a dummy. | |||
I asked her about <u>AIRLINE</u> and she figures there
will be a problem getting the board into a bookcase
format, but she hasn't tackled it yet. <u>Hank Laub</u>
doesn't like the name and I agreed that wasn't crazy
about it. | |||
Mary said that <u>Tom Atwater</u> has been bothering her
about contracts for <u>TRANSFORMATION</u> and <u>Alex</u>' games. She
is trying to get the legal department to get them
out but they have to get everything from Brown &
Bigelow (spelling?) and they are always kept waiting.
Saxon Industries have taken over B&B and she hopes
that once the organization is complete they, Stancraft,
will have a better position.
They expect to put out 8 new games this spring,
plus 4 sports card <u>GAME</u>s (DMR Games - see 12/15/70) they took over from an
independent manufacturer, tho he may continue sell-
ing them under the terms of the contract. They are also
putting out a line of <u>CHESS</u> sets.
I mentioned the very disappointing royalties on my <u>TEMPO</u>,
<u>ODD OR EVEN</u> and <u>INTERPLAY</u>, also on Alex' <u>DOZO</u> and
<u>CASTILE</u>. She didn't know anything about the sales end
but said she would check and let me know how
