TUESDAY 7 APRIL 1970 97th day - 268 days to come
Called Felicia and told her about my letter from and to Jim Krauss. Ran off a repro to give to her next Thursday. I'll also try to get SEARCH to her then. When she has an occasion to write to Bill Caruson she'll ask about EXECUTIVE DECISION. She mentioned that Whitman would probably be taking Natelie Donna's FLINGERS. Felicia said she helped improve it.
Thinking further about a previous GAME idea. There are 60 card- [diagram drawn to left. Two rhombuses side by side, labeled "<- 2 long." Six rhombuses side by side, labeled "^- six long." Square divided into four squares.]
board strips, 12 each of lengths 2 spaces to 6. At the ends are projections for fitting into holes. Each space has a hole for the projection to fit in. The spaces are colored with different arrangements of 4 colors. As a started there are 16 squares of four segments, with holes in each segment. These are placed at random in a 4 x 4 pattern. Then players in turn place on of their pieces (the pieces at the start are devided equally between 2, 3, or 4 players) so that the ends (with the projections) match the colors of the spaces they are placed upon. A play scores the number of spaces in the played piece multiplied by the level it is played upon.
Looked at my games of CARD STOCK MARKET and INDUSTRIAL EMPIRES III in view of yesterday's letter from Jim Kraus.
Called Abe Silber to ask him about taking royalties as capital gains. He doesn't think so, but he'll check and call me Thursday.
Claude called me from Arthur's. They'd like to get together at the Skunkworks next Wednesday. I said O.K. if I can get SEARCH ready in time. Arthur said he saw something in a recent Times about an ecology GAME by Buckminster Fuller. He thinks he still has the paper around. I'll call him Thursday to check on it.
BB brought a copy of AGOG to Dr. Schwartz. I'll sign it next week.
