SATURDAY 7 MARCH 1970 66th day - 299 days to come

Rcd. letter from Rizzoli that they would send me a copy of the Edizioni Librex catalog when they get it, having re- quested one.

The March TOYS & NOVELTIES came. I had one already from Toy Fair.

I had a GAME idea which would probably fit in the format of the rubber stamp series (my former idea). A quadrille - say 8 x 8 is stamped. Players fill in a crossword puzzle of their own invention and then take turns trying to guess the opponent's puzzle. Players can either ask for the contents of a specific square (coordinates will have to be included on the stamp) or can can make 5 guesses as to the contents of a number (or with bad luck all in one) of squares. These are answered "yes" or "no." Possibly a scoring system can be used to encourage inter- locking words, more interlocking that is.

Called Arthur and told him about Toy Fair, "Poultron Press" Office, etc. He has made improvements in some of his games but we didn't go into them.

Trying to record the Toy Fair material but didn't get too far.

Also at the International Toy Show saw:- DISCOUNT :- Corpening Game Co. - Granite Falls, N.C. - Patent #2,976,044 (1967). They advertise that it takes up where MONOPOLY leaves off. The board is similar in form to MONOPOLY except that outside of each "property" space there is an adjacent dotted area. The first player to land in the "property" space (which is actually a "penalty" space) can take possession of the adjacent space by paying the stipulated amount to the bank. Thereafter when another player lands on the "penalty" space he must pay a listed amount, unless they can make a deal to be admitted into the adjacent space by paying the owner a lesser amount. When the same player owns the adjacent space next to all the penalty spaces of the same color the listed penalties are doubled. A number of "gold mine" spaces have their penalties increased as the same player gets control of their adjacent spaces (like railroads). HAGGLE :- Stelledor. The gal there was anxious to meet me after Tom Atwater. She has a copy of AGOG. She gave me an ad sheet and will send me a copy when it is ready. (See 5/19/69). The items now are "women," "timepieces", "lights", "connections" and "hippopotimi." The values are, as I thought be- fore - 1¢, 5¢, 10¢, 25¢, 50¢. Instead of value rings there are notched cards for each player, one for each item, which he can set (cont. on 3/8) on on 3/33
