To B&N. Didn't have AGOG. Looked at two collections of Martin's columns.

Fabio called in answer to my call of last week. Asked him about PATTERNS II as a proprietary game. He said he doesn't think there is anything in my contract to stop me. Aside from that he thinks it would be a great idea as long as the book is plugged. He suggests that the manufacturer write to him asking about the form the plug should take.
We talked about the reviews I've got so far. He says it is def- inite that Bergdorf-Goodman will be selling AGOG, at least in the 5th Ave. store.

Felicia called. Wants to know where to buy AGOG. She wants to give a lot of them as presents. She particularly wants one signed this Friday to give to Diane Hoisel this weekend.

Called Martin Gardner:
Told him how much I enjoyed the Scientific American article. Asked if he gets the advance notice on the Science Book Club selec- tions. Yes. He'll let me know when AGOG shows up. But it may be as much as a year.
Told him I rcd. VARIANTS AND GENERALIZATIONS OF TIC-TAC-TOE. Asked if he had an answer from Lech Pijanowski [spelling?]. No. He has a few letters in connection with his column on me, including one on VENTURE (liking it but suggesting some rule changes) and one from Vandemeer Bush (Spelling?) with a solitaire game. He expects more from Sci. Am. the beginning of next week and then he'll send them all on to me. Told him I had the patent on the edible sliding block puzzle. I'll wait with sending it until I get the material he is sending, in case some has to be reproduced and returned.

Wrote letter to Hamleys asking for X'Mas catalog.

Ordered ZODIAC (see 11/16).
