                        FRIDAY 14 NOVEMBER 1969
 318th day - 47 days to come

Diane Jaust called. Congratulated me on publication day. Would
have liked to have taken me to lunch but wants to go to
peace demonstration. Will take me to supper after the "Monitor"
 taping next Thursday.
To Felicia's with BB. Felicia had a letter from Jim Krauss,
which had a carbon of Redpath's letter to me. Jim said
they would be moving in a new direction and wants to
have a long talk with her soon.
The inventor of MATRIX sent in rules which Felicia
didn't think were very clear. I'll go up there at lunch some
time next week to look at them.
Jake Williams was there. We played part of a game of
Connor's ORBIT. He didn't care much for it. I think it
shows promise but needs more work. The ending criterion
doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the game. I tol
I told Jake of my game with the square pieces, as
shown which can be turned to form different
 configurations of paths. BARRIERS.
[Five small diagrams of squares with different paths crossing them (very similar to the modern game Carcassonne).]
Jake told me of an idea with square pieces with
configurations as shown. These are placed in a
container with some pieces missing. Players
slide the squares in a "sliding block puzzle". As Jake pictured
it there are little trains on the tracks which move when the
tracks are lined up. Object is to get across the board with your
 train. GAME idea.
Another promoter, Felicia said, is interested in Jake's FACTOR.
She also said that Connor has sent another skill GAME
 which she hasn't rcd. yet.
Rcd. a letter from Al Samuels of aco. Is returning my game
since he couldn't get the price in line. Didn't say whether
it was TOTALLY-- or FITTING & PROPER. Also didn't mention
my suggestions for cutting the price of the former.
Rcd. a letter from Tom Atwater. Looks good for TEMPO,
ODD OR EVEN, and INTERPLAY. Some interesting news.
Rcd, a copy of INTERPLANETARY COMMUNICATOR from
 {Sam Ferris
 {210 Newberry Ave.
 {Newberry, Mich. 49868
and some other misc. material (not all of which I
understand). This was because of my ordering the game
 GALACTIC DIPLOMACY (see 10/19).
Rcd. a package from Avalon-Hill with ANZIO, TUF, TUFABET,
 and [crossed out] C & O/B & O.
