226th day - 139 days to come

To Jim Dunnigan's for meeting with him, Phil and Red Simenson. Phil is working with a Design firm that is working up the Astrology GAME. They are very inventive and Phil gets along well with them. The president teaches a course on Creative Packaging at Pratt and wants Phil to take it - may be able to get him a scholarship. Phil is interested. This company with design products for a piece of the action and we may be able to work a deal with them.
As far as Allstate is concerned Jim & Phil are not speaking. (Phil is creating that impression.) Allstate wants a release for the Astrology game from Jim and is willing to pay $300 for it.
Operation Design Corp. (ODC) will probably be released by Allstate. It is already incorporated. We'll change the name and use it for the game division and later have "Infinity" take it over.
Red had a list of names but we didn't choose one. I tried to narrow down exactly what target we are aiming at. I am trying to look at things realistically, we'll get more info - including answers from letters Phil is sending to game designers listed in T&N.
At Allstate someone brought in a 3-D TIC-TAC-TOE played on 11 (why not 15?) 3x3 boards representing slices through a 3x3x3 cube. The spaces are numbered and each time a player places a marker he puts in on all the spaces of that number. As Red (I think) pointed out, this is just the same as having boards on three levels. Irv Lubow likes it. Phil will get me more info.
Gabriel Frank told Phil that they will be using me as a consultant - probably for Renwal.
The Renwal games will definitely go thru. They figure on selling about 20,000 of each.
Some Italian games are being sent to Allstate. Phil will keep me informed.
Jim showed me a rough of S&T and there was a bad error in TROMINO GO, the sample game. Called BB to get the info and then Red fixed it up. Jim will have to pay for a new plate - $4.77. I of- fered to pay, but he refused.
Jim gave me the equipment for TRAFALGAR, but not the rules. He has to find them, but is sure he will.
Jim gave me the columns by Jared Johnson.
Jim showed us an article from EYE magazine (the final issue) on war games - roasting him among others.

Rcd. a Newsletter from NFFF listing some back numbers of various publications available. I'll send for some.

August TOYS & NOVELITIES came.
