Benjamin Franklin - Born 1706 17th day - 348 days to come
Made another 12 repros of the Form Letter.
Called Jules Cooper about the book. He will contact me in
the next few about getting together at 200 5th.
They had a fabulous year. Three of their games were the
top sellers in the country. KER-PLUNK was no. 1 and he
[crossout] the others two were completely children's.
The detective games, including CASE OF THE ELUSIVE ASSASSIN
are not doing well. They may discontinue them, or they may
suspend them for a year and simplify them. Most letters
complain they are too complicated.
Felicia called and then I spoke to Bryce Russel. Arranged
to meet at 4:30. He paid for a taxi to my place. He
talked about the 3 games he is putting out:-
RAT RACE - The Canadian game I saw briefly last
year. He made some changes to Americanize it.
CUBE FUZION - 13 [crossout] clear plastic pieces shaped
like 2 1'18" cubes stuck together. In one end is a red
ball, in the other a green ball. A number of different
games can be played.
1) Placing them flat and trying to get 4 in a row of your color.
2) Building them in a (potentially) 3x3x3 cube with
object to get three in a row of your color.
3) Building them in a (potentially) 4x4x4 cube with
object to get four in a row of your color. Since there are
only 26 cubes, instead of 64, the cubes will generally
run out before the game is finished. Then players in turn
move a piece from one place to another, as long as it
doesn't collapse the structure.
4) Martin Gardner suggested the game of making square.
ASTRO BLITZ - a jazzed up version of CAMALOT on a hex
board. We played it 2-hand (I won). There is also a
3-hand version. he left the cover sheets for the two boards.
He said he would send me samples of 2 of them
in the next 2 weeks and the third in about 4.
He is also working on a game about conglomerates
but this is still in the formative state. GAME.
When I told him about corresponding with someone in
Poland he was anxious for me to have him submit games.
I was non-committal.
Showed him of mine:
ANOTHER:- He thought it called for too different a kind of
thinking. Played 3 2-hand games.
RED LETTER:- Played 3-hand with BB. I won. He admitted
it was good but wants to think about it awhile.
AIR LINE:- Played a good part of a 3-hand game. Same
comment as on last one.
He brought me a copy of a 1891 patent for a set of
