MONDAY 9 DECEMBER 1968
344th day - 22 days to come

Wrote up FOCUS, following the pamphlet with some changes and added the
remarks on the symmetrical draw.

Called PLAYTHINGS magazine about an ad in the classified section, asking. for game manufacturers to contact me. They wouldn't accept it because classified ads were limited to certain topics called TOYS AND NOVELTIES and spoke to a Mr. Green burger. He isn't sure whether they all accept the ad or not, but possibly It might by handled in another way, I said I'd be in tomorrow, and he thought I might be able to see Mike Spielman, the editor about it.

(cont. from 12/10) At Abercrombie and fitch saw WINDIGO (Row. Associates - Chicago-1968). Another yacht racing game Large board with small squares. Three areas for plaging bouys to mark the course, have & spaces marked with to numbers 1 to 6. A die is thrown for each one and that number is covered, so that courses can be changed ssome what. There is some kind of sockging to get positions at the starting line which I online modele didn't get completely). After this a player moves five spaces in a turn. The first must be in the direction facing and then may turn, more than once if desired. Can't move directly into the wind the there is no difference between the other 7 directions Wind starts in one direction. At the end of each round, the dice are thrown to see whether the wind is changed I don't know all the de tails), Saw RIDERS UP: There is a track ( didn't get the length) with paths for s houses. There are 5 dice with the following number distribution - 6 of 1,5 of 2 4 of 3 4 of 4 3 of 5,3 of 6, 3 of 7 2 of 8... There is a lot of paper money, material for betting, and odds boards. To 1/5, Alice, Felicia, and Bryce Russell - v.p. of AMT there, Bryce took us out to lunch, Discussed games..... He was thinking of a game and played with triangular dominues divided like this with a different colors instead of numbers, Told him about COLOROMOS. He is thinking of playing to surround a color, Told him about TROMINO GO and then we played. it, He seemed to like it, but no further comment, Showed him FITTING & PROPER and he liked it, w ants it sent Showed him DATA. He liked the idea of the notched cards but not the continents on the business motif. He said he'd think about it and I said I would. Discussed FREE FORM and its resemblance to UNIVERSE He suggested using connected triangies instead of squares, Later thought about this but triangles didn't seem to work too well, Hexes, however, sSeem just the thing, There are 7 possible shapes for 4 connected hexes. To keep the relationships I worked out for the quadrominoes, only 5 need be used in a game 2 being ommitted as the player makes his choices in tayong down, or possibly a largon board can
be used.
