Ember Day 66th day - 300 days to come

On subway looking over the card-indexed notes for my
book.

Alice called. Felicia is in Oakland Cal. Capwell's, a
dept. store, did not stock ACQUIRE at XMas but re-
ceieved a number of requests for it. They will stock it
in the future. Rhodes, a chain of 13 stores, said that
ACQUIRE did best of all the 3M games. HIGH BID also
did well.

BB & I met Fabio and Sylvanaat a French restaurant, their
treat. Fabio looked at my notes on the book and offered
me a contract. 5% to 7 1/2% on the first 10 thousand
copies and 10% thereafter (of retail price - from
$3.95 to $5.95.) The reduction on the first 10,000 is to cover
the cost of art work. I will get $500 advance to start
and $500 when I finish. It should be done in about a
year from contract signing. The actual finishing is not
too critical, but Fabio wants to see progress as I go
along. The only point that bothered me was that the
book would be listed in the "Juvenile Line".
Bought a set of round playing cards. Placed in "playing
cards" box.

The above was on Thursday 7 March. [arrow pointing to the next page]

For this day see Tuesday 5 March. [arrow pointing to previous page.]

states. (But opponent's will be wary of throwing these cards so
it sometimes pays to hold up on laying down.)
Play continues until either one player uses up all his
cards, getting 50 points, or until 3 rounds with no player sur-
rounding a states. Players are penalized 10 points for each
remaining card and got credit from each surrounded state.
Arnold Shapiro called while I was there and we will
all get together tomorrow at 10:30.

At Toy Fair picked up a sample Playthings. Ideal had the mystery
games in their ad including a new one AND THEN THERE WERE NONE.

BB called Caddylak Systems. They only make the narrow tape
in black. BB ordered a roll for $1.
