THURSDAY 22 FEBRUARY 1968
George Washington - Born 1732
53rd day - 313 days to come
Played PENALTY BAZAAR, my competitive variation of BAZAAR
with BB, with BB and Dale, and with the whole
family. At first based on the penalty partly on the
number of players in the game but later decided to
simplify it as follows : - Every time a player purchases a
card add 3 to the number of chips he has remaining.
Each player who has more than this total loses one point
for each chip in excess.
At Cross County bought a sheet of thin acetate to use with
my Geographical Game - STATEMENT. Also bought a
pad of 14" x 17" heavy sheets. (Filed in [52].)
At Cross County saw ELEMENTO again. There are 102 cards with the
chemical elements. The number, weight, and major isotopes of
each is given on the card. Play is like RUMMY. Three types of matching
is allowed : - 1) Sequence of three or more in periodic number.
They score 1 each if a sequence of 3, and 2 each if 4 or longer.
2) 2 or more above each other in the periodic table. Score two each.
3) 2 or more with the same isotope number. Score three each.
A variation : - score each card by its atomic number. This, of course. makes
the heavier elements more valuable. (Fairly complete rules.)
