208th day - 157 days to come
Worked on equipment to complete my set of DATA. Brought it to Claude's. The Amberstones there. Played Data with the 6 of us. They liked it.
Played FINANCIAL INDUSTRIAL EMPIRES III with 8, including Mary
Ellen & Barbara. Worked pretty well. Should simplify
some of the wealth sharing devices. Also to be com-
mercial I'll need a new theme. Also it may take
rather long for a player to go bankrupt and a time limit
is probably preferable.
Wald & Arthur played AGON. It is played on a plain black board of (theoretically) infinite size. One player has 50 white circles & one player has 50 red circles (punchings from a large size puncher). Each player has a rubber ended baton for moving the pcs.
The [crossed out] Each player arranges his pcs. in a single figure,
with as many branches as he wishes but no three
can touch (80). End [crossed out] A play consists of moving a pc. from
any position in a figure and placing it in any other
position on the same figure, including starting a new
branch [drawing of circles and dotted arrow "O.K. to move"]. If a player has two or more figures
he may make two moves one from
each of two figures. If a player
has a single figure & breaks it on his first move he
may make a second move with the figure he did not
add the first pc. to. when the end of a players figure
is within less then one circle (pc.) of his opponent
[Drawings of 4 circles noting "pc 1, 2, 3" and a perpendicular line of 6 filled in circles with arrows noting "either of these can be captured". Drawing of 4 circles noting "pc 1" and 5 filled in circles divided into groups of 2 and 3 noting "position after capture.] Pc 2 or 3 could also have been used for capturing.
he can capture as shown in the illustration. To test if a player is within capturing range a pc. can be tried to be moved thru. If it goes thru without moving a pc. they are not within range.
In case of a dispute as to position the defending player (one not moving) has the final say. An isolated single pc. cannot be moved. Figures may be rejoined by a legal move in one of the Figures being joined.
Got the information on settlements, armaments, etc. for POWER from the Amberstones.
