Thursday 16 July 1964
198th day - 168 days to come
Saw Mr. Rocknowski @ [at] Whitman. They will only give a flat
payment for FOCUS (from $500 to $2000). They will, how-
ever put my name on the rules & let me keep the rights
to publish, etc. He also intimidated that they would do a
similar game if I didn't agree. Spoke to Bernie Newman
in the evening. He was indignant and is going to
check whether they could do it. He will call me back
next week. I have to answer Whitman within 10 days.
