Friday 3 July 1964 185th day - 181 days to come

At Korvette's saw BATTLE LINE (IDEAL). Played on board as follows:

[to left of text is a hand-drawn grid containing 12 large "sector" spaces each surrounded by a series of smaller spaces containing stars on the spaces at the corners of the "sector" spaces. The bottom of the grid contains additional large and small spaces denoted by "No Man's Land." Additional arrows pointing at the top of the grid are marked "P" or "T".]

Each player has 5 Patrols & 1 Tank started as shown. Moves are made by a spinner which has numbers from 11 to 19. Moves can be divided between as many men as desired. Each [word crossed out] player also has 12 flags of his own color. Object is to move the patrols to the opponent's side and get 4 in position on the 4 corners of a sector. When this done a flag is put in [following text is in a circle and likely relates to the drawn grid.] - SYM. ABT. & EXCEPT THAT TANK IS TO OTHER SIDE. the sector to indicate capture. Patrols once moved passed "No Man's Land" can not move passe back. Tanks must stay on own side and are used to occupy corners & stop opponent from occupy- ing them. (What is to stop a player from leaving his tank permanently on a corner?) First to occupy 12 sec- tors is the winner. (Can pcs. pass over other pcs.?)

Also bought POKERO (Cardinal).

Rcd. an order for 2 FOCUS booklets.

During day played 2 games of DATA. Divided the cards into 2 piles - one containing the pre "address" cards the other containing all the others. Each time turn a play- er takes one from each piles. At the start 3 are dealt from each pile. This made for a better balance of cards in player's hands. (Dana, BB & I played.)

Started a game of SPECTRUM but called it off when Dana had trouble with his tape recorder.

The Whitman submission forms came. They stink.
