WEDNESDAY 29 DECEMBER 1965 363d day - 2 days to come
Recd. letter from Dr. Günther V. Bünau of Germany (see 8/30/64). He sent me rules for GNOSIS (published by Otto Maier, 798 Ravensburg, a large German manufacturer). Asked me to send rules for CHINESE CHECKERS. GNOSIS filed in Board Game folder.
Rcd. another letter from Haar Hoolim. He got the adress of the inventer of ARMOR :- Dr. Moshe Mazor 66 Gordon St. Tel-Aviv, Israel He had submitted BATTLESHIP and LADDERS to Hassenfeld Bros. and Parker. Rejected by both. Rcd. a letter from Fr. Daniel. He has a variation of BATTLESHIP. Ships may move one or two spaces but after a move must shoot. Since the shot must be no further than 3 spaces in a straight line away from the shot, each shot helps give away the position of the ship. He also mentions an AUTO-RACE GAME. Huge board about 4'x5' with a race course replete with twists and turns. 8 can play. The race course is made up of connected squares. It starts out with 8 tracks and narrows down to four and sometimes to two. We use two decks of bridge cards with the A to 4's removed. Your car travels the number of spaces on the card. Pictures are worth ten. Red cards enable you to turn either way one space before continuing to play out the card. Spade cards enable you to pass any car that is in your way. Not perfected yet.
(cont. from 12/27) be placed in it. Most discs placed wins. Probably needs a little more testing but works quite well.
Claude called Al Turoff (see 12/9) and we arranged to go to his house next Thursday.
