THURSDAY 16 DECEMBER
1965 350th day - 15 days to come
Bud Meier called. Last night on the Johnny Carson show he &
Henry Morgan were trying to think of the game
BIG FUNERAL. Bud called today & said I knew all about
it. Walter Kempley of the program called me. At first he
was just interested in getting a copy of BIG FUNERAL. But after
talking to me he decided to ask Johnny about having me on.
Called again and talked some more about "off-beat" games.
Will call tomorrow & tell me whether I should bring in
the games same time next week. Claude called & I briefed him.
Rcd. letter from Alice. The rules for GO AND SEE were in
pretty good shape.
Also included an article from Dec. 1 Toys & Novelties, an
interview with Parker & Barton (senior) of Parker
Brothers. (Nothing profound.)
Bought two large packages of colored paper to use for making
a model for CONCENSUS. Bought a 1966 game diary.
(cont. from 12/17)
of a corresponding pair and score in each. Arthur said
some combinations scored double but didn't go into the
details. Play & hands and team with high score is
the winner.
The winner of 1 trick leads to the next.
There is a 3 hand version. 10 cards are dealt to each
and 2 are placed in a face up widow. Bid for the
widow. High bidder takes it and discards 2 cards (which
score for him at end). He makes all "melds" in his
hand. One card can be in more than 1 meld but only counts
once (why?). Play in tricks, the other two against
5 for minor. Last trick counts 10. Bidder must make
good his bid or he is set. Winning tricks is determined
in same manner as the 4-hand game.
