MONDAY 1 NOVEMBER All Saints' Day 1965 305th day - 60 days to come
Rcd. a check from 3M for $1422.64 for 3rd Quarter royalty on ACQUIRE. Sent Alice a check for her cut.
Thinking of a BINGO type game for 4 to 12 players, with voting. Tentative name - CONCENSUS. BB mailed registered letter with CINEMA rules to ourselves.
(contin. from 11/2)
Saw WID WILD LIFE (spear). Board game of traveling around
the world getting animals for zoos. Each player has
a different type of zoo with different animals. 2 to
4 play. A fifth can be the "animal dealer" but he
doesn't actually play. In Asia & Africa players can
get animals at a cheaper price than their final value
by landing on special spaces . Can also buy animals
for other player's zoos. When land on another player's
zoo space must pay for lodging the animals you have;
more expensive if player has half or more of his
players in his zoo already. Can also make a deal for him
to buy any animals you have that he needs. Price
somewhere between your purchase and his maximum
value of card. In South America there are animal dealers
where you can buy any animal at the value on the
card. (Rough idea.)
At Reiss Bros bought LETTER GO (Qubic Games) Also saw MAGNETIC QUARTERBACK (Tudor). Football game. Offense has a choice of 16 offensive cardboard discs; defense has 8 plays, also discs. Each chooses one without knowing choice of other. They are mounted together and each has cut-out spaces so that there are several windows open. A magnetic spinner chooses a window to read the result. (Fairly rough idea.)
At Bloomingdale's saw TOPS (Spear). 120 plastic pieces with numbers from 1 to 20 used for playing a multiple solitaire type game.
Claude called from Arthur's. Spoke to both. Nothing new with Arthur. Claude rcd. word from Crown that they are definitely interested in his doing a book on puzzles, but didn't say anything about an advance. He was at Ideal and Jules Cooper is now working there. He and Larry Reiner, the boss listened to HONG-KONG and thought it was a staff- calibre piece of work. They will let him know in a week or so. Jules Cooper remembered me.
