Article in Sunday Times concerning gambling in India during "Diwali" (Festival of Lights) season, in honor of Goddess Lakshmi, Goddess of Wealth. Following games mentioned. (Descriptions not to be taken too seriously due to frequent garbling by the press.) CHATURANG - which is played with dice and coins, is one of the oldest forms of gambling on the Indian subcontinent. SATTA - is a related dice game that depends more on sheer luck. JUA is a card game, also known as FLASH. It is played with three cards and involves frequent bluffing of one's opponents.
