Saturday 9 October 1965
282nd day - 83 days to come
Arthur over. He, BB, Dana, & I played SOCIETY with the High -
Deck.
8 cards dealt to each player. Bid for tricks over
4 as in bridge. Some order of houses - (probably
Sun - Arrow - Flower - Pyramid). No trump is highest, followed
by Sun - etc. Use a dummy, play is as in CONTRACT BRIDGE
with one exception as follows. If a major is "led" to a trick
and the "next" card played is the corresponding minor it is
a rebellion and the minor is now high. another higher major
played will again take control. If the 1st two cards are knight
& vassal the rebellion cannot be overthrown
Game is 240 points and each trick is 80. scoring is
not worked out well. I think it definitely inferior to Bridge.
Arthur brought me the
adjoining layout that he
& Wald worked out for
playing MOVEMENT.
[DETAILED DIAGRAM OF A MAP LAYOUT ON AN 18 x 18 GRID BOARD. A WAVY LINES TRACES A JAGGED PATH ACROSS THE BOARD DIVIDING THE LAYOUT INTO TWO HALVES. BOTH HALVES CONTAIN FIVE SPACES WHICH APPEAR TO POSSIBLY BE MOUNTAINS. BOTH HALVES ALSO HAVE AN EQUAL LENGTH OF A HATCHED LINE WHICH COULD POSSIBLY BE A RAILROAD (I'm basing these guesses on similarity to commonly used map symbols). BOTH HALVES ARE SYMMETRICAL.]
