Monday 4 October 1965
St. Francis of Assisi
277th day - 88 days to come
Rcd. a FOCUS order.
Arthur called. He is going to show some of his board games to
Royal - a maker of adult games, standards that is.
He is also going to try to make a deal with a card manufactured
to produce his high-deck, while he tries
to sell them to steam ship lines, etc.
Spoke to Claude. He told me of a thing they had at the I.B.M
pavillion at the fair called "Random Walk". A piece
starts at a center space. There are 2 dice : - E, E, W, W,
BLANK, BLANK & S, S, N, N, BLANK, BLANK.
The two dice are thrown and the piece moved (by a light)
in the direction thrown. The pc. moves back and forth
and should ma take 36 moves to move 6 spaces from the
center; 49 moves to move 7 spaces; etc.
He has devised a trivial "swindle" using cards,
based on this.
