Thursday 9 September 1965
252nd day - 113 days to come
Called Arthur to tell him there are no immediate plans for getting
together a perty to play FILM - THE LIVELY ART.
Ordered a copy of NUCLEAR WAR GAME : - $3.95.
Spoke to Claude about his GAME LEARNING MACHINE.
Use a matrix grid 3 x 3 with 3 strategies for the players
and 3 for the machine. Use a box with 3 colors of
marbles representing the 3 strategies. The player chooses
a strategy and then draws a marble blindly. If the
machine wins (has a + payoff) another marble of the same
color is added. If the machine loses (has a - [NEGATIVE] payoff) the
marble is removed.
If the player can keep changing his strategy the machine
does not learn. Claude envisages having the player choose a
strategy and allowing just one, or possibly two changes
during the game, which is to some set number of points.
