FRIDAY 19 MARCH
St. Joseph 1965 78th day - 287 days to come
played AIRLINE with Dana, BB, Bob & Helen. Gave each player $2000 and
a "purchase order" @ start. As sent to a city each player puts
in a sealed bid for a hop joining that city. High bid on a
hop wins it. In case of tie player nearest to one who's turn
it is wins. $50 minimum bid. Gave bonus for landing in city with
none of your hops - $100, with one o your hops - $50. If collect
bonus cannot bid that turn.
Eliminated charges by mileage. Cost of flying - $10 per hop
(double line hops count as two), $20 - with border to border,
$50 with coast to coast, $100 - with cross country.
Tax card applied to all players:- 10% for border to border,
20% for coast to coast, 50% for cross country.
Rules as to when it is necessary to fly and using least
number of routes applied. (See rules for original game.)
"Free pass" cards used & returned to deck - to be drawn again.
"Purchase order" cards could be used when sent to a city
with all hops taken. Take a hop from an opponent. Pay $500
if taken line goes into or makes a cross-country. Pay $250
if taken line goes into or makes a coast to coast. Otherwise
pay $100. The "purchase order" goes to player losing the hop and
he may then use it.
When a player does not have the cash to pay for a ride
he is out of the game. The players who are owed collect from the
bank and all his hops are cleared and are available for bidding.
No hops are sold back to bank. If player has to get rid
of hops because of a freeze out and he cannot arrange
a trade, he must auction to the highest bidder.

back into the game. BB and Dana, who were behind, arranged
a merger which made their combined line the largest.
