SATURDAY 13 FEBRUARY 1965 44th day - 321 days to come
Rcd. letter from Shirley Goldowitz with clipping from Jan 18 Toy & Hobby World. Had my picture on Randi show, mentioned my name, but I didn't figure in the article. (Filed in Misc. Box) Arthur & Wald buying cardboard at Moyer's & stopped in at office for a visit. Talked about POWER. Each player has an 8x8 board and only knows the position of his opponent's three cities at the start. Each player has the same amount of money which they can spend on armaments of their choice & place them where they wish. Armaments are similar to POWUR [sic] and run from 1 to 5.
There is also a pegboard with 64 holes corresponding to the spaces on the boards. These are at first filled with neutral pegs. When a player places, or later moves, pcs. in a province (the 3 spaces are understood- but how is a space that is in 2 or 4 provinces handled) he removes the neutral peg and puts in one with his color on the bottom. Players at- tend to the peg board separately. When a player removes a peg to put in one with his own color and sees that his opponent already is in that province that exchange complete infor- mation as to pcs. in that province. As long as each has pcs. in a province they are each kept informed of the others whereabouts but pcs. that move out become unknown again, unless the new province also is jointly occuppied [occupied]. [diagram of board, with labels ' 4" ' on top and right of square]
The three cities also have a bearing on the obtaining of new pcs. (This is just a general idea.) (See 2/22 for final idea.) Told them of my game MOVEMENT and they were quite inter- ested.
Made a date for them to come on afternoon and evening of Feb. 22.
Called Claude (before Amberstones came). At yesterdays meeting at Ed Hudson's only 5 people showed up. 3 A-H games were played. Claude found them rather slow moving. No one ordered any games. Made a date with Claude & Anne for 2/27.
Renee & Jack Clark here. Played BLITZ, L.O.A. & F.O.A. with Jack. He liked F.O.A. best & L.O.A. least.
In talk with Claude mentioned DISPERSAL (2/10) and he has also been working on a game with the same object.
