The fellows at the office played a PINOCHLE variant that
I hadn't seen.
3 play - 16 cards are dealt to each (the complete deck). Bidding
starts with 25. If no one bids the dealer gets bid for
18. High bidder, or dealer, sets trump. All players score for
their melds and their points taken in play (with one ex-
ception mentioned later). If high bidder does not equal his
bid he goes down the ammount of his bid, others score
(individual scores are kept for each player). If the dealer
decides not to play he goes down 18 but others score noth-
ing.
