Rcd. [received] box from Lakeside with duplicate copies of OVERBOARD, ISOLATION,
BIG DEAL, and SCORE FOUR (a new edition). (By U.P.S.)
Rcd. [received] airmail parcel post package from Hasbro with PYRAMID.
Got checks for taxes at Dollar. Called Leonard Willett to see if he has any
state estimated forms. No. I'll have to pick some up.
Visit to Horns in evening. Played BLOW-A-WORD with new rules. Good.
Call from Felicia (before we left). She spoke to John McNett and he promises
an answer on ABOVE AND BEYOND on Monday. Right now it looks very encouraging.
I'll take my other set with me to Mass. [Massachusetts] and will call Felicia in the
evening to check. (Felicia said to call collect, but I said that wouldn't be
necessary.)
Felicia heard from A.H. [Avalon Hill] that three German companies have made lucrative
offers for ACQUIRE. One is from "Schmidt Spiele," who, said Bill Riva, would
get the game on the market sooner; another is "Ravensburger" who
would be slower but would sell more; and Felicia can't remember the
third (Herb Roth read her the letter on the phone). The letter also
mentions interest in BAZAAR - I emphasized that P. [Parker] of Germany has rights
for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
There was no word on FOREIGN INTRIGUE. Felicia will write or call to ask about
it - also to tell Tom Shaw what Bill Riva said.
Felicia never did hear from Gale Jenkins of M.B. [Milton Bradley] I told her about Jim Walsh
writing to Bernie DeKoven. Felicia said that Jim was just trying to
make work <s>and</s> for himself and had no say, and Bernie's games are
egghead and no good. I insisted that STITCH 'N' STRATEGY could
have commercial possibilities, and that we should show it when we
see Gale. She said O.K.
