14 Sunday - August 1977
Eleventh Sunday of Trinity - 226 day - 139 days to come

Called Ronnie Corn to tell him about WMCA tonight. He was in Albany yesterday (when I called). There was a store that he found there that had a lot of older games - such as BROKER, CARAEACE, KING CHECK (see '71) and others - but none that I didn't have. At a flea market in their neighborhood - only on Sundays - he picked up a copy of TELL IT TO THE JUDGE for $3 (or it might have been $4). There is another flea market on Saturday so we'll get there at 1 (after lunch) next Saturday. I asked Ronnie if he had GOOSES WILD, yes. SPACE CHECKERS; no.
Dale brought me a copy of INTERNATIONAL SKI TEAM RACE - a duplicate. In my talk with Ronnie he said he had a date with Ned Strongin tomorrow. He had called when Ned was out. The secretary asked how he had heard of Strongin and he said from the trade magazines. She said that he was a developer, not an agent - but he called back and set up the date. He didn't contact "Ted Wolf," (see 7/16).

Dake and Phil brought me clipping from BERGEN RECORD on MB's COMP IV and ELECTRONIC BATTLESHIP.

To WMCA for Pablo Guzman show. Pat Leonard forgot to leave word to let me up and had to spend 25¢ in telephone calls. Because of baseball game didn't get on till about 6:20 and there were loads of commercials. Pablo got in plugs for THE WINNING TICKET and the "Beyond" series, particularly BEYOND COMPETITION. In his question on how I got games ideas I discussed BAZAAR. One caller asked about DOMINOS in general. Another asked about selling an original game on Tennis. Told him to try and find an agent thru the trade mag. [magazine] directories, but wasn't very encouraging. A woman asked about rules for GLOCKE UND HAMMER. Told her I knew the game, but not all the details - told her that if she contacted her thru the station I'd send her the rules. (At home found rules for BELL AND HAMMER in YOUNG FOLKS' CYCLOPEDIA OF GAMES AND SPORTS, but not complete. In SCHÖNE SPIELE found a good set of German rules from which I can fill out the gaps.) Pablo asked if I could come next week from 4 to 5 and I said yes. (Dana taped it all.)

pushing in a tile of their color from any end of a row or column. If tiles are in the way they are moved too. Object is to get five of your color in a row. (Rough idea.) This is the type of game he thinks has a chance.
He thought Ronnie's models were better than average.
He gets from 50% to 75% depending on how much they add.
Audrie insists that we got there for lunch this coming Saturday.

Wrote to Fabio Coen about the Castle AGOG. Mentioned CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY.
