March 1977 - Tuesday 22
81st - 284 days to come
Wrote final rules for RESCUE. Worked out Illustrations for
PEACE CONFERENCE and SEARCH.
Call from Jane Feder. We agreed that I'd bring in what I have finished on
BEYOND COMPETITION - probably all 6 games but not the foreword - to her
Thursday P.M. Next Tues. [Tuesday] is her last day before a vacation, but she may be able to
have enough time with the deadline to take it with her - which will give me more
time to finish up.
We discussed titles and she rejected BEYOND YOURSELF - it could be mistaken
as psychological games, and I agreed. I said I definitely didn't like
BEYOND SOLO GAMES. We both will think about it some more. Later I thought of
BEYOND CUT-THROAT COMPETITION, but I'm sure that that won't do either. Another game
name that came up was BEYOND RIVALRY.
Rcd. [received] letter from Jim Walsh. He is sending me a review copy of WELCOME BACK KOTTER
(Retail abt. [about] $3.00). Others when they are available. (Addressed to "New York, New York"
instead of "Bronx, New York 10469.")
Rcd. [received] letter from Graeme Levin. A company in U.K. is interested in the inventor of
TRIPPPLES.
Rcd. [received] letter from Albie Fiore, editor of G&P. Would like me to write an article.
Rcd. [received] letter from Pierre Berloquin. Mentioned 7/7; JACQUES STIEF
Jacques Stiefbold, SIDOMINOS, EVEN WORSE, PROFIT & LOSS.
Call from Mike Spock. Coming here on 3/31 for supper.
Called Claude and spoke to Anne. Told her I might not have car for date
this Thurs. [Thursday] will let her know definitely tomorrow.
Call from Claude later. Among other things - he is thinking of buying a copy
of IDLE PASSION, the book on the psychology of CHESS masters; he would
like to try and sell AGOG to a paperback house for me. He has been
getting together with Wald a lot and playing LOA. They are trying
to discover strategies.

Alan showed them the following:
WILD WILD WEST - no. He (John) liked the idea of a pc. [piece] chasing
the player's pcs. [pieces], but doesn't think Alan has done enough with it.
THE T.V. NETWORK GAME - has the "Gizmotron", a device where balls
are dropped into a "bagetelle" area and score according to which
space they land in at the bottom. They took this and promised
a preliminary answer in one week.
N.F.L. FRANCHISE OWNER - no gimmick with this - no.
DOMINATION - Another of Alan's games with some kind of a gimmik
but don't recollect anything about it except that it involves getting
control of countries. John liked the theme, but not the game.
SPIN-PONG - John liked it and they took it.
AMBUSH - too much like other games on the market.
SUPERSTAR GAME - John wouldn't look at it since they are considering a
game on that theme.
HARD HAT - No.
John said that they would like outrageous topics that are on the
