To Fabio. He checked sales of BEYOND TIC TAC TOE - about 66,000;
and BEYOND SOLITAIRE - about 34,000. I brought up that he had
said 48,000 last time. He had mistakenly added two figures, when
one already was the total.
I noticed an empty cover of BEYOND WORDS and Fabio gave it to me.
We played a game of RESOURCES, using a set order of the four
colors, and we found a little difficulty in keeping straight.
Told Fabio of variation where player can use either of his colors
on a turn. He prefers this.
Played SEARCH and came out almost exactly even for each color.
After lunch at Italian restaurant played start of a game of
ROUND 'N' ROUND and then part of PEACE CONFERENCE. He thought
it was primarily for children. I said that the reaction from
adults to PEACE CONFERENCE is quite interesting.
Jane Feder joined us and we discussed timing. I'm to have the 6
games ready by 1/17/77. Date for 12 noon (and I asked for a Jap-
anese restaurant). I am to have the entire book ready by the
middle of February. // Also mail Fabio rough rules for the 4 games in next few days.
I returned one copy of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY. I asked,
and Fabio said to concentrate on the book, rather than this game
or the UNICEF game. He had a new prototype of the "game book"
format (see 11/15) which is cheaper to produce.
<s>Into</s>On way out met Janet Townsend. She asked if I had examples of
games in progress for BEYOND COMPETITION for ideas for the cover,
instead of working out their own. Sure.
Met Claude at Irvington Thrift Shop. At [illegible crossed out] Haddassah Thrift Shop
bought NUMBLE for $1.00. Later discovered that I bought a copy
this year. Took the best parts from each for collection copy.
Claude said that he'd love to meet Martin Gardner. I said that
there would have to be a definite purpose, such as showing
Martin the "binary cross" in magic squares. Claude said he'd
like to get Martin's ideas on why this happens. We'll discuss it
in more detail.
