JANUARY 1976 - MONDAY 5
5TH DAY - 361 DAYS TO COME

Call from Felicia. She needed money and asked about our payment from R.G.I. Told her that I rcd. the money last year on 1/7 and that she could call Bob Gellman.

She mentioned that RUMMIKUB (shouldn't it be RUMMY-TILE?) is finally ready, but that Herb Roth has lost his enthusiasm for it.

Letter to Graeme Levin telling him that I had made reservation for him.

Asked about the AGOG royalty.

Letter to Phil Cohen. Enclosed complete info on GAMBIT, PHALANX, and ZODIAC STAR CHESS. Mentioned BEYOND TIC TAC TOE, NOST-ALGIA, AGOG, MERGER CHESS, Ralph Betza, COUNTERSTRIKE, ADVICE, and TERRANOVAN LEVELER CHESS.

Letter to Don Miller. Mentioned MOVES, THE GAMESMAN, THE GAMESLETTER, BEYOND TIC TAC TOE, TRIPPPLES (by Bill Powers), BARRIER (by Edward Schifman), BALI (by Norman Monath), TOTALLY, INTERSECTION, PUSHOVER (by me), PATTON, MACARTHUR.

Call Phil Orbanes. Told him that I took a duplicate of TAKAI and that I needed KONANE instead. He said that he'd have the latter for me when I come in on Weds., but not to botter [bother?] with returning the former. Made date to visit him on Friday.

Called Richard Berg to tell him I'd be at S.P.I. Weds. He doesn't believe that he'll be able to bring 1829, THE RAILWAY/BUSINESS GAME because of court appearances - but he'll try.

Made a new sheet for FOUR COLOR - actually two the same on the sheet. Had an idea for a new "solitaire game" - tentative name BURIED TREASURE - based on drawing rectangles determined by two dice, or two dice cards - or maybe three - and stringing them together at opposite corners. Certain spaces in the grid are treasure spaces and the value on the space is multiplied by a factor depending on the color of the rectangle covering it. Rectangles are colored in repeating sequence.

AIRLINE and this is nothing like it.

While working for Reiss, Phil completely redid D.D.I.'s 1776. Reiss would take Phil back, and if they get the 3M line - which they are bidding on - Phil might go back. He doesn't want to work on puzzles. While he was there he did a number of manipulation puzzles for a comparatively small lump sum. One is the puzzle of getting 6 small balls [drawing of balls in a triangle] of 3 colors into a triangle as shown.

He'll talk to Herb Chanko about the SPECTACULARS to see what, if anything, is doing.

He'll call me towards the end of next week to keep me posted, and he and Anna will visit us in a few weeks.
