December 1975 - Sunday 7
Second Sunday in Advent - 341st day - 24 days to come
At a bazaar in White Plains bought a package of 5 x 3 colored index cards for
15¢. With Edith's help got 3 packages of 6 x 4 colored index cards for
$1.00.
At bazaar in New Rochelle bought a game WEIGHT WATCHERS CANASTA
for $1.50. Also a book on science experiments for 15¢ and
SCARNE CARD TRICKS for 10¢.
Noticed that there would be a program on TV on the "Patent Office."
Called Claude. Not in and left a message about it. Watched part of it
and it wasn't very good.
(cont. from 12/10) [12/10]
details earlier this year. Alan is making some changes in the model. (M.B. turned this down.)
THE CIRCUS, by Alan. Putting together 10 acts for a cirus [sic] [illegible word crossed out]
by bidding (I believe) for cards with the acts. Two separate paths (or
maybe it was three) from "small town" to "big time." When land on a
town, spin a trapeze gimmick which feeds out three colored balls - al-
ways the same three- which gives the returns for each act according
to its color. There is a fourth color act which doesn't earn any money, but
does count in filling in the ten required acts. (very rough idea.) (Told
Felicia that this and MASTER SPY are at least as good as the things P.
has been doing.)
THE ZOOKEEPER, by another client, is a children's game that
Felicia likes a lot. Hubbard (spelling?) of "Impact" is looking at
it now, but she'll get it back to show to P.
DON'T POP MY BALOON, by another client, same as above.
"Holiday Line", by another client, is a series of children's jig-saw
puzzles that make a different shapes-Easter Egg, Pilgrim's Hat, etc.
TIME IS MONEY. She has a new model, but the rules,
she says, are the same. One gimmick is a box
for shaking the cubes, as shown. [drawing of a rectangular box with a slot along the bottom of one of the long sides] A stuck is moved
in the slot to knock off any cubes resting on others.
She is not sure whether to show it or not.
CLICHÉS. Probably she won't show this. And I agreed. (by Rolf Myller.)
Felicia told me that Jim Goldsberry of Hallmark died.
Talking about Hallmark, she showed me the model of PITFALL
that was sent back. The rules were missing - and some of the
marbles. She asked me if I'd look them up for her. Sure.
Rolf Myller has placed a book on mazes with Fabio Coen. She is not
his agent on this - since he was selling books before he met her.
Talking about Fabio, she said that she has shown some things of
Alan Newman's to him, but he told her that he didn't want to
look at things that would compete with mine.
Herb Roth is advertising (where?) for a small business to take
over. He doesn't see much future in games.
He once was a principle in "Popper Games", but his partners were
dishonest. I asked, and Felicia said Popper Games did standards.
She asked if I had seen the Aladdin ad for in G&P and whether
