----
Rcd. [received] a "Bicentennial Calendar 1976" from "Advertisers Marketing
Services," <u>Gerald Daugherty</u>'s outfit.
<br>Wrote letter asking for review copy of <u>THE CONTRACTING GAME</u>.
<br>Call from <u>Robert Horn</u> (<u>THE GUIDE TO SIMULATIONS/GAMES FOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING</u>)
while I was out. Another call while I was home. He will be in New
York this coming week and would like to get together to discuss
games. ("He has been involved with the trees and would like to
see the forest" - or did he say it the other way?).
Invited him here for lunch next Thursday. Took his number - just
in case: <u>Robert Horn</u> [phone number] (Weds. [Wednesday] evening he'll be at [phone number])
<br>Anthony from next door borrowed the second copy of <u>GUSHER</u>. Checked the
pcs. [pieces] before he took it and discovered that a pc. had been lost sometimes.
Noted this on the file card.
<br>Played <u>ABC D-DUCTION</u> with <u>Phil Laurence</u>. At first Phil thought it was too
simple, but after a second game he saw that there was a challenge.
The four of us finished the game of <u>WORD RACE</u> we started last week.

They are repackaging <u>CARTEL</u> for the family market, which
means they will use drawings showing tycoons raking in
companies and money instead of the sophisticated photograph.
They will come out with a line of "great little games":
<u>PUZZLE TOWN</u> (the one he showed me as <u>FUN-CITY</u>). He is adding a
score sheet. Plus scores for completing blocks. Penalties for putting
border colors inside - not connected to border.
<br><u>STRIKE IT RICH</u> - an elaboration of <u>PAY OFF</u>.
<br><u>SURPRISE ATTACK</u> - using some ideas from <u>CAR-TEL THE GAME OF 12 KINGDOMS</u>.
<br><u>SMUGGLING</u> - a new game that he has worked out. He needs
some "fine tuning" and arranged to come here next week to test
it and have me give suggestions - $15 an hour.
<br>Borrowed his copy of <u>SIMULATION/GAMING/NEWS</u> (vol. 2, No. 6 - Nov. '75). I'll
return it next week.
<br>Back to S.P.I. Took a copy of <u>SORCERER</u>. Took duplicate copies of
<u>S&T</u> &#35;52 and &#35;53. Ran off 8 each of my columns. Ran off repros [reproductions]
of the <u>SIMULATION & GAMING/ NEWS</u> I borrowed from Phil.
<br>Rcd. envelope with <u>THE SPACE GAMER</u> (&#35;3). Article on <u>STELLAR CONQUEST</u>
strategy. Discussion of <u>STELLAR CONQUEST</u> and <u>STARFORCE</u>. Discussion of
realism in the <u>THE RIGELLIAN WARS</u>, <u>LENSMAN</u>, <u>TRIPLANETARY</u>. Letters on
<u>DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS</u>; <u>STELLAR CONQUEST</u> with a suggested addition.
"News" about <u>ROYAL ARMIES OF THE HYBOREAN AGE</u> (Booklet by Fantasy
