Working on the word GAME idea I had last night. Have a
grid of 18 x 15 squares (270 total) with letters in them. A
section is blocked off - from 20 to 45 - and players in
turn pick out letters to form a word and color in the
letters with their color. The player who forms the last word
scores one point for each letter he has colored in. Con-
tinue with another section of the same size. Etc.
Brought copies of S&T no. 48 thru 52 to Harold Saperstein.
Got the page from last weeks TIMES with BEYOND TIC TAC TOE ad.

Realized that next Friday is <s>Hollywood</s> Halloween. Called Claude
and changed date from their house to here. Told him I had
DUEL to return to him. Reminded him to bring THE EXECUTIVE STRATEGIST.
Called EARL and it's O.K. with him to come here Friday.

one game. The difference from the Kontrell version is that the
pcs. had the player's color on one side and were neutral on the
other. Each player made 10 moves on a turn (or luck version, the
number on two dice). If an enemy piece is surrounded on 4 sides
it is turned over to the neutral side. (What happens when 3 or
4 play?) A piece that a player has brought into <s>its</s> position a-
cross the board can be brought out again to help in a capture.
(can captures be made along an edge of the board?) Win by getting
6 pieces across, or by reducing opponent to less than 6 pieces.
Kontrell obviously eliminated the pieces of two different colors for
economy, but they could have molded a cross on one side to indicate
a captured piece. He said he'd send me his rules - also offered
to send me extra neutral pieces to play his rules. I thanked
him but said that I'd mark one side of the pcs. I have.
He gave me his address: Vincent Grissino [address]
