Call from Moses Goldman. He got ahold of a game RACING FANS that he thinks he might revive - it being defunct for several years. It is a horserace game using 3 records. I told him that I didn't know this particular game but have seen others using records, and all that is involved is different grooves. There is no act- ual playing by the players, other than placing bets. He asked if I could change it into a board game not using records; I said that it would be a different game - but that I could certainly come up with one. He said that he wanted to send me the records, altho I tried to discourage him. I told him I didn't have a stylus for a 78 rpm record. He said he'd send that too.
Call from Bob Ciano, an artist with ESQUIRE magazine. He got my name and address from Barbara Heine (see 1/17/74). A friend of his has come up with a book on magic for children, with special equipment for actual tricks. At first told him about Fabio Coen but when I learned it wasn't straight printing I gave him "Gamut of Games" address.
Claude called and asked and I met him on 84th St. with the car to carry a table (similar to ours) to his house. He gave me the copy of LES GRANDE AMIRAUX (see 10/6) and wouldn't accept the $2. The rules were missing, but with the included summery [sic] and a description I have in LA REVUE DU JOUET (see '71) I am sure I have all the info. (I am sure that this is the same as ADMIRALS by Canadian Parker - see '73.) He gave me the Oct. SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN. He'd like it back some- time, but it is O.K. to take out Martin Gardner's column.
While I was out BB rcd. a call from Gerald Daugherty [home and business phone numbers] I met him in 1969 thru Felicia. He is interested in an airline GAME that I did for him then with Continental Airlines in mind. He has another airline in mind now. I called him at his house. He'd like me to send him the model of the game I did at that time. Told him I'd look for it tomorrow morning and to call me about it.
