1 Wednesday - October 1975
Missouri Day (MO.) - 274th day - 91 days to come
Letter from manufacturer of 1829. Mentioned KINGMAKER. They will not
try to sell in U.S. until next season. Will send me first revue
copy they send over.
Rcd. a copy of BONEHEAD from Jerry D'Arcey (& Michael wanted it).
Sent a copy of my S&T no. 51 column to Paul Belford. (see 9/29.)
Call from Art Tuite. When he was in Rochester (I believe) he had
something to do with a rep columnist who might contact me on
doing a column on my collection - John Czarnecki.
Art's number thru the end of Oct. is [phone number]
Call from Claude. Cooper Union has an elementary course in "Commercial
Art" starting tomorrow. It cost $15 for 10 weeks. Claude is going
and asked me to join him. Would like to, but too short notice.
Looking at THE WAY TO PLAY. They claim more than 2000 games. A few
that are a little new to me: ASHTA-KASHTE, ALLEYWAY, HORSESHOE,
PLAKATO, GIOUL, CHINESE REBELS, RINGO, CHECKERS GO-MOKU,
CONQUEST, BRAX, HALMA SOLITAIRE.
Working on game diary good part of day.
Some ideas for word games for a book - possible name
WORDS FOR THE WISE (altho Phil Orbanes suggested this for
his game that was called WORDPLAY - see '73)
WORD RACE: Have 4 tracks of-say-60 spaces each. Certain
spaces are marked in each track and at the start the
alphabet is filled into these marked spaces - except that only
one is picked from "Qx2" - in a random manner; or one player
can set them up for another. Players starting at a starting line,
fill in words as long a they can, using the previously spaced
placed letters and also those from previous words, if they wish.
First to return to the start wins.
