<br>He had the letter from <u>Elisabeth Brower</u> to <u>Felicia</u> (and I asked
him to have Fay make a repro for me). Nothing can be done now
about her criticisms, but possibly with the next printing. I'll
see what I can do about the <u>VASARELY</u> diagram.
<br>He had two manuscripts that <u>Felicia</u> brought him. One was about
a dozen of <u>Alan Newman</u>'s p&p games with introductions to
each. He said that he wasn't interested in things like
<u>FOOTBALL</u>, <u>BASEBALL</u>, etc. but he was interested in the
word games and <u>PRIVATE EYE</u> (see '74). He asked me to look
at it and I saw also <u>HIDE 'N SEEK</u>, <u>FINDERS KEEPERS</u>,
<u>SLALOM!</u>, <u>TYCOON!</u>, <u>DRAG RACE</u>, <u>SPY VS. SPY</u>, and probably others.
<s>He asked</s> One was <u>HELIX</u>, which has players in turn writing
a word along a spiral. Object is to use as many as possible of
the letters at the end of his word to start yours, and the score
is based on how many letters are not used. Fabio asked me
what I thought of the games. I told him that I knew Alan,
that I thought many of the games were very good. He
asked me if I had intended using things like word games
in my book and I said that I had been - but that it was
a very embarrassing spot for me to be in. He said that
the final decision will be his and quite possibly he'll do
both - We discussed the [illegible word crossed out] advantages of a book de-
voted to a single topic compared to one devoted to a "Gamut"
and he seemed to prefer the former. Incidentally Alan
had <u>RIGHT ANGLES</u> in his book, with pcs. to cut out. He also
had cut out dice to be assembled. Fabio didn't like
this and I suggested cards on the back cover to be cut
out, 12 of them with 2 sets of [drawing of die showing 1 pip] thru [drawing of die showing 6 pips]. Fabio liked this.
<br>The other manuscript was puzzles by <u>George Bredehorn</u>.
Fabio didn't care for this at all.
