September 1975 - Saturday 20
Succoth, First Day of Tabernacles - 263rd day - 102 days to come
At a bazaar near Edith's bought 10 sheets of white "Bainbridge
Board" at 50¢ each. At a number of garage sales bought 3
strings of beads for 25¢, 25¢, and 50¢.
On way to garage sales stopped at the Laurences to see if Annette
wanted to join us. She would have liked to, but had other plans.
Phil gave me a clipping concerning a "Computer Simulation and
Games for Educating Structural Engineers." (Filed in '75 Misc.)
Call from Dave Greenwald. He'd like to come to see my collection.
Invited him, and Eric, to come here on 9/30, abt. 8 P.M.—
telling him that it was BB's Mah Jong night.
Heines House is interested in doing his TREFFLES deck. I told
him the little I knew about them.
Played KINGDOMS with Dave Horn. I immediately made a rule
that a player could not simply reverse the move made by the
other player. After a little playing we decided that a player
had to use at least one of his own pcs. in every move.
Even so the game didn't seem to come to an end without one
player overlooking something.
Played 4-hand and kept the two previous rules, extending
the 1st one to include all the other three players - not nec-
essarily the one playing immediately after. With everyone
looking for ways to stop a win the game went on and on,
but it became necessary for a player to completely ruin his
own game by moving his king away from all his pcs.
Later thought of a rule that a king couldn't be moved so as to
isolate it from its pcs.

Howie Barasch gave me a box from Stancraft with 2 copies each of
SUPER CRIBBAGE, MAKE YOUR DOLLAR HOLLAR, THE JOY OF SIX,
HOW TO ENJOY BEING A DIRTY OLD MAN, THE MEANEST GAME IN TOWN,
WILL YOUR REAL PERSONALITY PLEASE STAND UP?, THE HOT SLOT PAYOFF,
THE WORDSPELL CHALLENGE, CAST YOUR LETTER TO THE WIND. Also a letter
from the Advertising/Sales Promotion Manager (with a cc to Jerry Brown),
and an ad sheet.
Also in the box were three envelopes with questions:
Julian Lewicki with question on WOODEN SHIPS & IRON MEN (SSAE).
Mark Schuyert offering to send me some of his original games.
Arthur F. Schulz, Jr. asking about TOTALLY.
Made 8 repros of my #52 column. Also a repro of 1 page from the
Sept. issue of SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN (which Claude wants back).
Terry Hardy asked me if I knew a place that mounted game boards.
Told him I'd check with Phil Orbanes.
Chris Wagner was there to discuss doing some management analysis for
S.P.I. Spoke to him for awhile before he went out for supper with
Jim Dunnigan. Exchanged cards with Chris.
