At "Wesleyan University" in Middletown, Conn. saw an artwork consisting of a series of wood strips - about 1"x1"x4" - painted different colors and mounted in random arrangement - all vertical however - and at different distances from the backing. Feel that there is a GAME idea here.
In Huntington's Book Store in West Hartford saw a copy of THE WAY TO PLAY. [illegible word crossed out] It had a lot of out of the way games and many attractive illustrations. The only game that I noticed that I didn't have was RING info on was RINGO. It is played on a series of concentric circles divided into spaces. One player starts on the outside with 6 pieces. The other starts in the center with 4, but he has greater mobility. Outside player wins by reaching the center. (Very rough idea.) (I'll probably try to get a review copy.)
Saw BEYOND TIC TAC TOE on display.
Bought COMPLETE BOOK OF DICE GAMES for $1.50.
Rcd. envelope from Phil Orbanes with the rules for SLY for me to check. He needs them by 10/6 he says on a note.
In West Hartford at the Mark Twain, Harriet Beacher Stowe houses area there was a library of books from that time period. Looked for game material but the didn't have any- thing new to me.

voting on game titles in the following categories: "QuadriGames", "Simulations Series Games", "Role Playing Series Games", "Power Politics Series." Advertisement for SORCERER. Ad for ISLAND WAR QuadriGame with the following: BLOODY RIDGE, SAIPAN, LEYTE, and OKINAWA.
To Strand Book Store looking for CONTEMPORARY GAMES:---. Couldn't find it.
Visit from Dave Greenwalk and his friend Eric. He brought along a game KLYPT which comes from Malaysia (but is in English). He answered an ad in the TIMES for an exclusive American distributionship and they sent him a copy. They want him to order, and pay for, 5,000 copies and their allowance for his mark-up and for the retail stores is ridiculous. Copied the rules and the board on a sheet (in Dave Greenwald folder).
Dave suggested that the two of us do a column for G&P, with his doing the bulk of the work for the use of my name- but he wants exposure. Told him that he could write to Graeme Levin, using my name as a friend, and suggest his doing a column.
