September 1975 - Friday 12
Defenders Day (MD.) - 255th day - 110 days to come
Answered letter rcd. 9/9. Mentioned CARD BASEBALL; AGOG,
EXECUTIVE DECISION, SLEUTH, PATTON, MACARTHUR, TOTALLY,
PUSHOVER, INTERSECTION.
Wrote for a copy of CONCEAL (see 9/10). Said I was enclosing a
repro of my S&T column for #51, but forgot to puit put it in.
At "Lionel" in Westchester bought ODD'S MAKER POKER DICE
for $2.99 plus tax.
Saw the 3M bookshelf games (not all titles) for about $8.50, and
some of the huge HASBRO games for $6.99
(cont. from 9/13) [9/13]
so threw it away and put game in box on shelf 43). 2 books
for possible use if I g do a book on "school" games - "Fundamentals
of Mathematics" and "Biological Science" - 5¢ each. For 60¢
bought a box with a lot of colored pencils, 2 usable mechanical
pencils, a draftsman's pencil, package of regular and one of
jumbo paper clips, and a few more small things.
At another Garage sale saw the game BLARNEY for 50¢
but decided not to get it.
Looking at the game OSMOSIS that I discovered on the floor
next to the desk. It was sent to me for review last year but
I forgot about it.
The Laurences here in the evening. Played LASCA with Pil and
it is a very interesting game. Played 4-hand QUICK TRIP,
first with and drawing one card, which was fun. Then played
with choosing two cards to use for entire game. This
seemed a little cut and dried. I think it would have been
better partnership.
Discussed my Bloomingdale's appearance and Annette suggested a
party type game. I thought that a simplification of
BABEL might be suitable - and easy and cheap to prepare. Actually
it would be more like HAGGLE (Stelledar), with each player
being given a different value list for various pl ranks of
playing cards.
Gave them a copy of BEYOND TIC TAC TOE.
