Rcd. a letter, thru Random House, from an <u>AGOG</u> reader
who wanted my opinion on <u>APBA BASEBALL</u>.
<br>Looking at various equipment and finally came up with
flat green <s>bea</s> "curtain" beads for <u>MANCALA</u> and fairly small
buttons for <u>MILL</u>. For <u>THE FAMILY CREATIVE WORKSHOP</u>.
<br>To a number of "garage sales" and "tag sales" in Yonkers. Bought:
<br>- Bag of marbles - 25¢.
<br>- String of beads - 10¢. Cut them up but too small for <u>MANCALA</u>.
<s>draft</s> Design kit from Hasbro with wooden pcs. and plastic 10x13 "board." - 25¢
<br>- <u>KWAZY QUILT</u> puzzle - 10¢. (Phil and I solved it.)
<br>- <u>NILE</u> - 75¢. All tiles there (using a spare). 1 rack missing.
<br>- 500 sheets of 8 lb. "Sphinx" paper. - $1.00.
<br>- 50 pen nibs - $1.00
<br>- Book "Physics - Fundamental and Frontiers" - for reference if I ever
do a book on science games.
<br>Made a set of 200 <u>ANAGRAMS</u> - but may have made them too
sloppy.
<br>Thinking of an additional game. Each player takes 15 tiles at
random. They are formed into X-word patterns. Words score:
2 letters - 2 pts, 3 - 3 pts., 4 - 4pts., 5 - 15 pts., 6 - 16 pts., etc.
Each letter unused counts -5, except a "Q" without an "U." Players
can take - 1 at a time - up to 10 additional tiles. <u>ANAGRAMS VARIATION</u>.

glad to look at and evaluate the game, but I am afraid that
there is no commercial possibilities. He'll mail it to me
anyway. Gave him my address.
<br>Call from <u>Claude</u>. Date Friday. In an antique store where he looks
for post cards he found a box with <u>KARDOLLETTE</u> (a gambling
game) and <u>CUKU BRIDGE</u> (which he didn't think looked much like
<u>BRIDGE</u>) by "Kardollette" Co., N.Y., @1931-32. I asked and the price
was $3.50. Asked him to pick it up for me if it is still there
next time he is in the store.
Mentioned that I bought <u>NILE</u> Sunday. He said that he has been
seeing it around. Told him that if he sees <u>TANGLE</u> for under
$3.00 I'd appreciate if he picks it up (for <u>S.K. Howard</u>).
<br>Played my new <u>ANAGRAMS variation</u> with BB. (It really is not
Anagrams at all.) The idea of optional additional tiles didn't
work out. There is too strong a tendacy [sic] to take all that is allow-
able. Finally decided to use 20 tiles. Also simplified the scoring
to 1 point for each letter used in two directions. I'll probably change
the number of tiles to sets of about 100 and let people make as
