Rcd. a letter from Phil with the clipping on <u>THE SAVINGS GAME</u>
from <u>BANKING</u> Magazine. Sent a letter asking for a copy.
Rcd. the original of the <u>SPIEL-BRETT</u> that <u>Walter Luc Haas</u> sent me repros
of. rcd. 7/26
<br>Call from <u>Felicia</u>. She loved the article on <u>CHECKERS VARIATIONS</u>
I did for <u>DAISY</u>. She said that maybe I was wasting my talents
not writing material for juveniles. Told her that <u>BEYOND TIC TAC TOE</u>
was juvenile and that I was working on a follow up. Also told her that
I was working on the craft encyclopedia.
She was contacted by a <u>Whitney Hastings</u> who previously was a client of
<u>Tom Atwater</u>'s. Parker recommended her. He has about 20 skill
action games, some with patents. He's paying her way to come to see
his games next week (somewhere in New England).
He could not get Atwater to tell him who has seen his games. I
told her that Parker certainly has, and Tom had connections with
3M.
She said that Hastings got $1,000 for the name <u>ON GUARD</u> from
Parker. They used it on a completely different game than the one
he submitted.
<br>Called <s>Mary</s> <u>Marilyn Nierenberg</u>. Talked about the project in gener-
al. Probably we'll use <u>QUICK TRIP</u> as the full page opening picture.
I'll do models of boards for <u>THE JUNGLE GAME</u> and <u>MILL</u>. She'll
do the pcs. for <u>THE JUNGLE GAME</u>, full size so they can be traced.
Gave her the animals to use. On <u>QUICK TRIP</u> we decided to
use each citie's [sic] name in its own language. She'll check them
out and call me with them. We postponed the date for doing
the photographs until 9/3. Probably towards the end of the next week
she will come here to look at what I have to photograph. If any
line drawings are necessary she will do them; all I have to do is make
sketches.
<br>Made a board for <u>MILL</u> using wood grain contact and 1/8" plastic
strips and 3/8" circles at the intersections.
<br>Laurie Horn brought me a repro from the
<u>SCRABBLE PLAYER'S NEWSPAPER</u>, which was the one I rcd. from S&R
on 8/14. (Discarded.)
<br>Called <u>Claude</u> to see how he was feeling. He and Anne both some-
what under the weather.
<br>During day called <u>Bob Reiss</u> and changed date this Thurs. to 1:30.
I'm to talk to <u>Manny Lefkowitz</u> about <u>SPECTACULARS</u> too.
<br>In morning changed a few of the spots on <u>QUICK TRIP</u> to
equalize the colors in the center of the 5-spot paths as much
as possible (red has one more). Also thought of the rule that
if players pick two cards to use for the game they can not pick
one that gives their color a move of 3.
