<br>Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost - 222nd day - 143 days to come | |||
---- | |||
In rearranging books on the upstairs shelves (for the holding piles | |||
downstairs) discovered that the book <u>CHESSMEN</u> I bought on 2/28 | |||
was a duplicate. | |||
<br>Thought of the mechanism for <u>QUICK TRAP</u> (see 8/7). 12 cities | |||
are located on the board, connected with paths made | |||
up of circle in 4 different colors - in random order but with | |||
equal numbers of each color. 2 to 4 play, using markers of | |||
the same 4 colors. A set of 24 cards is used with the tour | |||
colors arranged in all possible arrangements - and numbered | |||
from "1" to "4" next to the colors. Another set of 12 cards | |||
have the city names. Incidentally, on the board each city | |||
is also marked with one of the four colors. | |||
<br>The players each take a city card and place their marker in | |||
that city. Then the city cards are reshuffled and placed face | |||
down next to the board - next to numbers from 1 to 12. As | |||
many cards, starting with 1, as there are players in the game | |||
are turned face up. Players try to be the first to reach a | |||
city with a face up card. The first collects points correspond- | |||
ing with the number next to the card, and the card is removed | |||
from the game. As soon as a card is won, a new one is faced- | |||
up to the #12. | |||
<br>The set of 24 cards are used for moving. Each player is dealt | |||
2. On his turn the player moves the number of spaces next | |||
to the color his marker is on at the start of the move - using | |||
either card. He then draws another card-discarding the one | |||
used. If he ends on a space of the same color as his marker, | |||
he moves again. A player must enter a city by exact count. | |||
If both cards would bring him passed, he instead backs up the | |||
number on the card used. | |||
<br>As an alternate way of moving - with less luck - a player | |||
chooses 2 cards at the start of the game and uses those | |||
two cards for the entire game. | |||
<br>Wrote to manufacturers of <u>1829</u>. Enclosed copies of my columns in | |||
<u>S & T</u>, #48 and #50. Mentioned <u>KINGMAKER</u>. | |||
<br>Wrote to "Siera Enterprises" asking for a review copy of <u>ASTRO-CHESS</u>. | |||
Enclosed copies of my columns in <u>S & T</u> #48 and #50. | |||

Call from <u>Felicia</u>. Told her I had the column for Daisy all worked | |||
out and I just wanted to be sure about my rights to use the mater- | |||
ial in a book, etc. She called the editor and then called me back - | |||
no problem. She has a date for next Tues. and would like to | |||
bring it. Told her I'd have it - probably by this Thurs. | |||
Started writing the article on <u>CHECKERS VARIATIONS</u>. Called it | |||
"Let's Play a New Game." |
